PLATINUM Memorial Rally is a special rally event organized in Wieliczka, dedicated to two Polish legendary racing drivers, Janusz Kulig and Marian Bublewicz. Many generations of drivers and motoring fans have grown up on these rally legends, and every year in the springtime rally enthusiasts have a chance to compete in Wieliczka. This year, the Memorial was held on April 1-3, and on Saturday evening the participants' automobiles raced through the center of Wieliczka as part of the night Prologue. The event was not short of excitement, thanks in part to the shifting weather conditions. Snow and rainfall, alternating with dry pavement, posed quite a challenge for drivers and an opportunity to show off their driving acumen. Mikołaj Miko Marczyk, the youngest Polish Rally Champion, had already announced his participation in the event and arrived at the Memorial in his Skoda Fabia Rally 2 EVO with the brand new decals. Before the rally, the new ambassador of PLATINUM ORLEN OIL stated: "This is not yet an ordinary car event, but a professional rally that commemorates the Polish rally legends who set the standards for an entire generation of rally drivers, so I am very proud to take part in such an event." The duo of Miko Marczyk and Szymon Gospodarczyk won as many as nine out of ten special stages, outrunning their rivals by over two minutes. The competitors included top level rally and mountain racing drivers, which made for a great show for the fans. As every year, the Memorial attracted lots of motoring and rally fans, as well as whole families. Despite the weather, everybody had a lot of fun and sport emotions, enjoying the sporting struggles of participants on routes with the total length of over 34 kilometers.
