Platinum, the leading automotive oil brand, in addition to the naming rights sponsor, has for years supported ORLEN Team during the world's most popular and toughest motor struggle, the Dakar Rally. In addition to the series of Porshe Platinum GT3 Cup CCCE raids, sponsoring the racers in the 38th Dakar Rally highlights most profoundly the company's involvement in motor sports.
The presence of ORLEN Oil in the global and European motor events is also an opportunity to test its products in extreme conditions, and hence to enable sustainable development of the technologies.
In this year's edition of Dakar Rally, Poland will be represented by three car crews. In addition to Marek Dąbrowski with co-driver Jacek Czachor, on Toyota Hilux, and Adam Małysz with Xavier Panseri, on MINI ALL4 Racing, his first appearance as a driver in Dakar makes Kuba Przygoński with co-driver Andrej Rudnitski. It is worth mentioning that Kuba first competed in the rally in 2009, ending at the high 11th place as the fastest novice. His best result so far is the 6th place in 2014.
This year's rally will see the record number of 354 vehicles and overall 556 racers from 60 countries. ORLEN Team is the only Polish group taking part in the rally this year. Started on January 2 in Buenos Aires, the Dakar Rally will finish on June 16 in Rosario following 13 exhausting stages (prologue, 13 stages and a one-day break). The bikers and quad drivers will cover 8984 kilometres altogether (including 4701 km special stages) and the cars 9238 km (including 4792 km special stages).
